Each month, EnviroForensics nominates their colleagues. In November, Nick Hill was recognized as our employee of the month. Get to know Nick inside and outside of EnviroForensics.
Nick Hill, LPG, Senior Project Manager
Question: What’s your background and career path?
Answer: I am originally from Ohio and grew up in the Dayton area. I graduated from undergrad with a BA in Geology from Ohio Wesleyan University. I then moved to Indianapolis to work at an environmental consulting firm and worked there for six years. At that point, I was introduced to EnviroForensics and began working here as a Staff Professional. Over the last 8 years, I have climbed the company ladder to Senior Project Manager and obtained an Indiana Professional Geology License.
Q: How do you feel about being named Employee of the Month?
A: It was a pleasant surprise! To be singled out of a group of so many high caliber peers is quite an honor. But I really couldn’t do my job or be where I am today without the support of others; from field staff to Directors. A very humble thanks to all!
Q: What do you enjoy about working at EnviroForensics?
A: What I enjoy most at EnviroForensics is the people and the supportive atmosphere and environment. I truly rely on the strengths of others every day and it‘s great to work with such willing and able peers. Since I came from a large company where employees were hardly recognized or supported, it has been very refreshing to be with a company that truly find ways to put employees first.
Q: What is one of your most exciting projects at EnviroForensics?
A: Right now, I’m working on a project here in Indy that is focused on source remediation. The results have been coming back with great effect so far, and we plan to continue cleanup efforts on a downgradient plume remediation before the year ends. We are excited to start this next step in the project!
Q: What is your life like outside of EnviroForensics?
A: Outside of work, life revolves heavily around family with my wife, Emily, and our 2 girls Claire (8) and Audra (5) in Martinsville. Emily has started working again after being at home the last 8 years with our girls and we are excited that Emily is teaching at the same school as them.
I’m a big soccer fan, having played up until college, and I am a big supporter of Liverpool FC in England.
After the hustle and bustle on most days, I mostly enjoy quiet evenings at home binge watching Netflix or catching up on the latest soccer matches. I enjoy trying new foods, craft beers and wine. My brother-in-law recently introduced me to cigars, and I’ve found those to be quite good with a bourbon.
