The EnviroForensics’ annual philanthropy season will kick off on October 5th with the Coat and Supplies Drive to benefit the Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation (HVAF). HVAF is an organization dedicated to helping homeless veterans return to self-sufficiency while also working with at-risk veterans to prevent them from homelessness by providing supportive housing, case management, food, hygiene and clothing. They are the largest nonprofit provider of comprehensive services for veterans in Indiana, and last year, their efforts helped 2,259 veterans have a safe place to sleep and 1,205 family members receive the counseling and guidance necessary for them to become self-sufficient.
As the winter months approach, it is important to remember those veterans who are without coats and necessary winter accessories. The donations collected through EnviroForensics’ Coat and Supply Drive will help provide veterans with these winter essentials.
The requested donation items are the following:
- Men’s coats (especially larger sizes, XL+)
- Long johns (all sizes, but especially larger sizes XL+)
- New men’s underwear—boxers and boxer briefs preferred (sizes M+)
- Sweatshirts and hoodies (all sizes, but especially XL+)
- Long-sleeve t-shirts (all sizes, but especially XL+)
- Men’s deodorant
- Shaving cream
- Toothpaste
Last year’s drive was our most successful one to date, with 16 donation bin locations at local businesses. Our donations last year included 169 coats, 22 jackets, 7 sweaters, 15 hats and 16 pairs of gloves. This year’s is looking to be an even bigger success, with 24 locations where donation bins will be available.
